European Conference on Model Driven Architecture® - Foundations and Applications

November 7-10, 2005, Nuernberg, Germany

http://www.ecmda-fa.org

Model-Driven Architecture® (MDA®) is an initiative proposed by the Object Management Group (OMG, http://www.omg.org) for platform-generic software development. It promotes the use of models in the specification, design, analysis, synthesis, deployment, and evolution of complex software systems.

ECMDA-FA will take place from November 7-10th in Nuernberg, Germany. This conference is dedicated to furthering the state of knowledge and fostering the industrialization of the MDA methodology. Its focus is on engaging the key European research and industrial figures in a dialogue which will result in a stronger more efficient industry, producing more reliable software on the basis of state-of-the-art research results.

The conference is organized in two tracks dealing with the foundations and applications of MDA. There will be additional workshops, tutorials, and tools exhibitions on these subjects, and a separate call for contributions will be issued for these events.

In Track F (Foundations of MDA), we are soliciting papers presenting original research on all aspects of MDA. Typical but not exclusive topics of interest are:

Track F:

  • Metamodelling - foundations, tools
  • Model Transformation - languages, tools
  • Reasoning about Models
  • Model Navigation
  • Model Synchronization and Consistency
  • Modelling of Requirements, Architectures, Platforms
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Modelling for Testing and Validation
  • Model Execution/Simulation
  • Modelling Qualities of Service, Security,
  • Aspect Modelling

In Track A (Applications of MDA), we are soliciting papers representing the views and experiences of industrial players in MDA. In particular, we look for papers which set requirements on the foundations and tools for MDA. Papers in all application areas of MDA are welcome, but may focus on one the following 4 application areas. For each area, a bridge session is planned, showing how to bridge the MDA technology to the application domain.

Track A:

Bridge session A1: MDA for embedded and real-time systems Chair: Bernhard Rumpe

  • MDA for embedded systems
  • MDA for object-oriented real-time systems
  • MDA for high-integrity systems (safety-critical and security-critical systems)
  • Model verification and quality-driven development for these systems
  • MDA in the automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, electronics industries

Bridge session A2: MDA and multi-domain modelling languages Chair: Peter Fritzson

  • Modelling and simulation in multi-domains and MDA
  • Platform stacks for simulation languages
  • Multi-stage Modelica www.modelica.org
  • MDA and the System Engineering profile, SysML

Bridge session A3: MDA and component-based software engineering Chair: Uwe Assmann

  • Component models on different levels of the platform stack
  • Platform information as aspects in an aspect oriented setting
  • MDA and architectural styles
  • Staged programming and staged software architectures

Bridge session A4: MDA and Web Services Chair: Gerd Wagner

  • MDA for (Semantic) Web Services
  • Platform selection in Web engineering
  • Ontologies and their relation to profiles
  • OCL vs. OWL - the big competition in application domain modelling?

Other topics:

  • MDA for Business Integration
  • MDA for Large Scale Distributed Systems
  • Comparative studies of MDA tools
  • MDA technology adoption
  • MDA development processes
  • Metrics for MDA development
  • MDA Training
  • MDA for Legacy Systems

SUBMISSIONS:

Track F:

Authors are invited to submit a paper of no more than 15 pages (to papersTrackF@ecmda-fa.org) presenting original research on the foundations of MDA. No simultaneous submission to other

publication outlets (either a conference or a journal) is allowed. The proceedings will be published in a strictly refereed volume.

Track A:

Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of no more than 5 pages (to papersTrackA@ecmda-fa.org) presenting industrial concerns and experiences with MDA. Long papers, in the format of Track F, will also be accepted, but should focus on bridging the MDA technology to one of the application areas and will be reviewed according to strict scientific criteria. No simultaneous submission to other publication outlets (either a conference or a journal) is allowed. The proceedings will be published in the same volume as the proceedings of the Foundations track.
